I once looked into your eyes
My heart would yearn for you,
I once looked into your soul,
And found someone so true,
I once looked into your heart,
And saw myself there,
I now look into my own being,
None of these questions can I bare.
I don't know what is beyond my sight,
Except these tears of unknowing,
I cannot look into my soul,
And tell you of the person who is growing,
I will not tell you what is in my heart,
In the fear that it is you who is not present,
But worst of all as this time passes,
I know it is me whom you will resent.
