Between
Written by CitadelHatred burns within me,
Yet they’re warmed around the flame
My fear the faceless enemy
Though their eyes detect no shame
I am the one inside the light
The ember of their false insight
I am the shadows’ acolyte
The shape that lies became
My family cannot begin
To comprehend the pain
They’re free from my immortal sin
They walk, whilst I am lame
They see only the good in me,
I ache for that false destiny
For I know there’s no deity
That cares to set me free
A teenage mass of flesh and bone,
An ageless core of rage
A spirit void, for it alone
Can read this transit page
I am the child that shapes the man,
The adult chained to what began
As changelings do, their souls pecan
Before they firm with age
I cannot understand the flow
Of pain and grief and joy
It shapes the very world I know
Yet leaves me as a boy….
To scared to think that I could fail
Too smart to know I will prevail,
A lonely pup chasing his tail
A thread-bear children’s toy.
